Orchestral, existentialist, art rock band, TELEPHANT, fashioned in Nashville, Tennessee recently released their debut album Asleep in Green, in January 2009 (Self Released). The album is a collection of songs that musically stretch to incorporate the styles of world music, jazz, classical, rock and roll, as well as poetry/folk. Asleep in Green is thematic and story-like in the repetition of ideas with counter ideas represented by historical figures through the record. This was done with the intention by vocalist and songwriter for the band, Ryan Hurtgen, to sculpt an album around the ideas and themes of the book A Theory of Everything by Ken Wilber, which is a vision of an all encompassing view of the world, life and existence. Produced by Michael Latterell in Nashville, Asleep in Green is lyrically and musically, a surrealist record.
